Struggling to Get Out of Your Chair? This Could Change Everything...

You've had a lovely afternoon. Cup of tea, a bit of telly, maybe a wee doze. Then the doorbell goes.

First try, you shuffle forward. Second try, a big push on the arms. Third try, and someone's shouting "hang on, coming!" while you're still halfway out of the chair. 😅

If that sounds familiar (for you, or for your mum, dad or granny), a lift and tilt chair might be the best thing you buy this year.

What is a lift and tilt chair?

It looks like a normal armchair, but there's an electric motor tucked inside. Press a button on the handset and the whole chair gently rises and tilts forward, bringing you up towards standing. No rocking, no pushing, no hauling yourself up.

It works the other way too. Press another button and it reclines back so you can put your feet up and properly relax. So it's not just a chair for getting up. It's the comfiest seat in the house.

Single, dual or quad motor?

You'll see these words a lot when you're looking at lift and tilt chairs. Here's what they mean in plain English.

Single motor: one motor does everything. Simple to use and the most affordable option.

Dual motor: the back and the footrest move separately, so you can sit upright with your feet up, or lean back with your feet down. Handy if you like to read, watch TV and nap in slightly different positions!

Quad motor: even more control over exactly how you sit. If you're thinking about a quad, pop in and we'll show you everything it does.

Our lift and tilt chairs

Soft fabric chairs

The Windsor Lift and Tilt Armchair (Dual Motor) has a tiered backrest and plush cushioning, in a textured fabric. You can adjust the back and footrest separately. Choose from Natural, Steel Blue or Latte. £780.

Want the Windsor look for a little less? There's also the Windsor Single Motor at £660.

The Mayfair Dual Motor Recliner has a waterfall back for lumbar support and a side pocket so the remote is always within reach. No more digging down the side of the cushions! 🙌 Comes in Ash or Beige. £780.

The Savoy has a high headrest for neck support and a USB socket in the touch panel, so you can charge your phone or tablet while you sit. Available in taupe or grey. £780.

The Sandringham Fabric is a dual motor chair with a high back for neck support and lumbar support built in. £680.

Prefer leather?

The Sandringham Leather has the same high back and dual motor as the fabric version, in full leather. Choose burgundy or camel. £940.

A more traditional look

The Astoria has dark stained wooden knuckles on the arms and a metal frame. It's a dual motor chair with a built-in USB charger, in Silver, Steel or Beige. £960.

For extra control

The Berkshire comes in four colours: Deep Blue, Olive, Steel Grey and Stone. Pick the Berkshire Dual Motor at £960 or step up to the Berkshire Quad Motor at £1,380.

The Mayfair also comes as a Quad Motor Recliner, in Ash or Beige, at £1,200.

A few things to think about before you buy

  • Who's sitting in it? Height matters. If you're buying for someone else, bring them along to try it if you can. The right chair should let their feet rest flat on the floor when it's upright.
  • Measure your space. A reclining chair needs a bit of room to stretch out. All our chairs have their measurements listed on the product page, so check them against your living room before you fall in love with one.
  • Think about the arms. Even with the lift doing the work, it helps to have something solid to hold on to. Try a few and see what feels right.

Try before you buy (we really mean it)
